Rabindranath Tagore was born on Tuesday, May 7, 1861. 25th Baisakh of 1268 according to the Bengali calendar. Time - 2 hours 27 minutes 41 seconds, Place - Kolkata.
He gained tremendous fame and establishment. He has become unique in poetic literature and musical composition due to his position together.
Rabindranath's father Devendranath Tagore died in 1875. Bouthan Kadambari Devi committed suicide on 21st April 1884. The poet was deeply hurt by the death of this new gardener. Rabindranath was seven years old when Kadambari Devi, wife of Rabindranath's grandfather Jatindranath, got married and came to Thakurbari. Kadambaridevi was 9 years old.
Rabindranath's wife Mrinalini Devi died in 1902. He had five children, three daughters and two sons. The girls' names are Madhurilta, Renuka and Meera. The boys' names are Rathindranath and Shamindranath. Rabindranath also had to bear the pain of death of several children during his lifetime. Renuka Devi died in 1903. Shamindranath died in 1907. Madhurilata died in 1918.
On December 22, 1901, he established the ashram at Santiniketan, which later became known as the Visva Bharati University. At times Rabindranath had to face financial hardships due to Rabi and Sukra being together in Dhanasthan. Rabindranath became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in 1913 for the Gitanjali poem. Kabiguru passed away on 7th August 1941.
